When a person comes for a session with Mark to ask him to facilitate communication with a spirit or spirits, Mark refers to this process as “discernment” rather than “reading.” Discern is to “perceive and recognize” which is what a medium does during spirit contact.
Mark insists on anonymity prior to the discernment. Other than your name and appointment time, he doesn’t want to know anything specific about you or the person you wish to connect with. He does not want to “taint” the discernment because of information he receives prior to the discernment. Mark does not conjure or summon any particular spirit or spirits. “Anyone on The Other Side, who needs to communicate with you, will do so. You’re the one that brings a spirit to the discernment, not me, I’m just the instrument used to receive messages,” Mark explained.
Many people want to know if they can schedule a discernment immediately after the passing of a loved one. The time following the passing of a loved one is excruciatingly painful. Although the spirit is able to communicate right after crossing to The Other Side, the client may not be emotionally ready to engage in spirit contact through a medium. In order to get the most benefit from the discernment, it is usually in the client’s best interests to wait several months until the initial shock of grief has subsided.
Discernments can be in person or on the telephone.
